Art of Living Empowers 22 Women from marginalized sector through Happiness Program

Kathmandu. A transformative ‘Happiness Program’ was conducted by the ‘Art of Living Nepal’ faculties recently concluded, empowering 22 women from a marginalized community at Goldhunga, Satdhara Chowk, Tarkeshwar Nagarpalika,  Kathmandu, Nepal. The training took place from September 22-25, 2024, and provided participants with invaluable tools for stress management, practical life management skills, and overall well-being. These are Local Women are working in Handicraft sector and are single mothers from disadvantaged communities.

During the four-day program, participants engaged in stretching and yoga exercises, learned rhythmic breathing technique, and practiced the renowned ‘Sudarshan Kriya’. These techniques are designed to help individuals manage their emotions and cultivate a greater sense of calm and presence in their everyday lives. The women involved in this program are artisans who have faced significant challenges in their pursuit of survival and family support.

They expressed their gratitude for the session, which offered practical tips and insights into the profound connection between breath, emotion, and mental state. The Art of Living has been a pioneer in promoting stress relief and emotional well-being across the globe for over 42 years, operating in more than 186 countries. The organization is dedicated to helping individuals attain a calmer state of mind and live more fulfilling lives.

“This positive transformation in individuals is a vital step towards building a more cohesive and happier community,” said Ms. Neeva M. Pradhan, one of the senior trainers leading the program alongside Mr. Achiut Raj Gautam and assistant Mr. Shailendra Hamal. The initiative gained momentum through the efforts of Ms. Emma Seppala, a scientist and professor at Yale University, who recognized the potential impact of the program. Through her connection, Ms. Neeva Pradhan was introduced to local contacts Mr. Nasreen and Mr. Mazahar, facilitating this essential life skills training for the artisan group.
