TikTok launches Safety Ambassadors Programme to reinforce commitment to digital safety in Nepal

Kathmandu. TikTok has launched its Safety Ambassadors Programme in Nepal as the platform continues its efforts to foster a safe and welcoming digital space for its vibrant and diverse community. The programme is designed to raise awareness about how users can combat prevailing digital safety challenges while freely and confidently expressing themselves online.

With its #SaferTogether initiative, TikTok is partnering with Nepal’s most influential TikTok creators, celebrities and key opinion leaders as Safety Ambassadors to deliver powerful messages about online safety, empowering users with the knowledge they need to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. The Ambassadors will also help create awareness of the various in-app safety features available on TikTok to ensure the wellbeing of the community.

TikTok’s Safety Ambassadors Programme in Nepal will feature Oshin Sitaula, Parakram Rana, Sushant Pradhan, Manjita Manandhar, Rastra Bimochan Timalsena, Shree Pandey, Priyanka Karki, Anish Tamang, Ishtu Karki, Bipin Sthapit, Sarika Neupane, Mahima Adhikari, Sabitra Bhandari, Rehan Shrestha, Roneeshma Shrestha and Deepak Sundas.

The Safety Ambassadors, carefully selected for their ability to connect with users and spark impactful discussions, will bring valuable reach and credibility to the initiative. Their influence and dedication position them as key advocates for TikTok’s mission of creating respectful and safe online interactions. This initiative goes beyond the platform itself, addressing critical topics like content creation – no shortcut to success, safe content creation, dangerous challenges, misinformation, harassment, online trolling, and cyberbullying, respecting culture and social norms, protection from online scams, minor safety, getting help if you’re a victim, TikTok’s safety features and Community Guidelines.

TikTok has always been a space for creative expression, with over 1 billion monthly active users globally. This localized awareness campaign in Nepal reflects TikTok’s proactive efforts to work hand-in-hand with local stakeholders to build a more secure digital environment for Nepali users. By working closely with the Safety Ambassadors, TikTok aims to create a culture of digital responsibility that will have a lasting impact on Nepal’s online landscape.
