Kathmandu : NMB Bank Limited has successfully executed Financial Closure of Bajra Madi Hydropower Project having installed capacity of 24.8 MW promoted by Bajra Energy Ventures Pvt. Ltd. The project is located at Madi Rural Municipality of Kaski District. The Financial Closure Agreement of project has been signed on 9th May, 2025 with lead financing from NMB Bank Limited and Agricultural Development Bank Ltd. as Member Bank. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has already facilitated for the construction of project by signing Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the company. The total estimated cost of project stands at NPR 5.35 Billion. Out of total estimated cost, NPR 3.745 Billion shall be financed by Consortium Banks for the development of project. NMB Bank has already financed more than 50 hydropower projects.
Vision Lumbini Urja Co. Ltd. (common investment group of Bajra Energy Ventures Pvt. Ltd.) has also proudly announced the successful operation of the Seti Nadi Hydroelectric Project, 25 MW capacity located at Annapurna Rural Municipality & Pokhara Metropolitan City. The project started its commercial operation from 12th November 2024. The project has been financed through a consortium led by NMB Bank Ltd., alongside the Employees Provident Fund and Agricultural Development Bank Ltd. as Member Banks/Financial Institution.
NMB Bank has already adopted Environmental and Social Risk Policy and started implementing Environmental and Social Management System within its business portfolio as directed by Nepal Rastra Bank guidelines on Environmental and Social Risk Management, 2022. In addition, Bank is committed to apply international good practices such as IFC performance standards in project financing including hydropower sectors.
