Nepal Internet Foundation, in collaboration with the Digital Empowerment Foundation and the Internet Society, will host the Community Network Xchange – Asia Pacific (CNX-APAC) Nepal Chapter 2024 on August 31st, 2024, at Texas International College, Mitrapark, Kathmandu.
The CNX-APAC series, initiated in 2017 by the Digital Empowerment Foundation in partnership with the Internet Society, has successfully fostered global dialogue on community networks. This year marks the first time that Nepal will host the CNX-APAC, bringing together key voices in connectivity, digital inclusion, and community network initiatives.
Theme
The theme for this inaugural edition in Nepal is “Empowering Voices, Connecting Communities: Community Networks for Social Change.” The event aims to explore the power of community networks in creating social impact, bridging digital divides, and fostering sustainable development.
Objectives of CNX-APAC Nepal
- Raise Awareness: Highlight the critical role of community networks in empowering marginalized and underserved communities.
- Facilitate Knowledge Exchange: Provide a platform for sharing experiences, ideas, and best practices among community network stakeholders.
- Capacity-Building: Offer training opportunities to enhance the expertise of community network builders.
- Foster Collaboration: Encourage partnerships among community members, telecom service providers, experts, and advocates.
- Advocacy and Policy Dialogue: Promote policy recommendations to support the growth and sustainability of community networks, particularly in rural and remote areas.
Agenda
The day’s events will begin with a networking breakfast and opening ceremony at 9:00 AM, followed by discussions on catalyzing connectivity. Keynote addresses and panel discussions featuring local and international speakers will delve into the future of connectivity in Nepal and South Asia.
