Nebula Energy and Gogoro Inc (Nasdaq: GGR), a global technology leader in battery-swapping ecosystems that enable sustainable mobility solutions for cities, today launched the exclusive product range of Gogoro with Pulse and Jego and also announced the locations for 45 battery swapping stations in Kathmandu Valley. The announcement was made at a special media interaction program organized at the M3 stall of Gogoro at NADA Auto Show. After an overwhelmingly positive response following the soft launch with two swap stations and the deployment of scooters with strategic partners such as Foodmandu and Jum Jum, Gogoro is now finally ready to offer the scooters for sale.

Speaking to the media, Chairman of Nebula Energy, Mr. Manoj Goyal expressed his commitment and vision towards contributing to Nepal’s zero-emission targets through the new age of sustainable mobility and technology with Gogoro.

Further adding to the statement, Managing Director Mr. Sahayu Goyal shared that mass-scale adoption of EVs in the two-wheeler segment must be enabled through technology. The Gogoro range of scooters powered by battery-swapping technology provides a unique solution that addresses the major challenges faced by consumers when deciding to buy an electric two-wheeler today.

Nebula Energy is currently offering the battery swapping services to strategic B2B partners for their GX250 models. Nebula will inaugurate the first Gogoro showroom in Naraynchaur, Naxal in mid-September. Following the inauguration, customers will have the opportunity to test ride the scooters and make pre-bookings at a special introductory price and get the delivery of their smartscooters post Dashain. To complement the product retail, honoring their commitment to first deploy 45 swap stations before beginning sales, Nebula has announced the locations for 45 battery swapping stations around Kathmandu valley ensuring that there is a station available every 2-3 kilometers. The stations will be strategically located in petrol pumps, marts, malls and areas of common interest for ease and accessibility of their customers.

The most interesting and intriguing point about purchasing a Gogoro smartscooters is that customers won’t need to purchase a battery, as Gogoro offers a convenient battery subscription plan. This plan provides access to the entire network of swap stations, making it easier for users to keep their scooters powered up without the hassle of battery ownership.

Eventually, Nebula Energy plans to install more battery swapping stations than the number of petrol stations in Nepal.

Battery swapping technology helps solve the current obstacles to wide-scale urban two-wheel EV adoption and addresses the urban mobile energy demands in a safe, sustainable, and scalable way. Gogoro’s battery swapping addresses many of the concerns associated with electric two-wheeler adoption in Nepal including:

  • Reduction in total cost of ownership.
  • Ownership of batteries is not required.
  • Mitigating range anxiety as battery swapping is the quickest way to refuel a vehicle, quicker than ICE vehicles.
  • Eliminating charge time – no requirement of self-charging as swapping can happen in seconds.
