काठमाडौं । Montra Electric, India’s full-spectrum electric commercial vehicle brand, today announced its entry into its first International Market, with the unveiling of the first batch of Super Auto electric three-wheelers in Kathmandu, Nepal. The company has forayed through its exclusive national distributor, HIPCO Trading Pvt. Ltd. The unveiling was done by Mr. Aashish Gajurel, a member of parliament from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, marking the official launch of Montra Electric’s flagship passenger three-wheeler in Kathmandu.
Montra Electric’s Super Auto’s engineering, shaped by on-ground testing, local distributor feedback, and Nepal’s specific road and terrain requirements, positions it as a purpose-built solution for the market.
Nepal is uniquely positioned to lead this shift. The country has surplus electricity generation, making electric mobility a direct way to convert domestic energy abundance into reduced dependence on imported fuel. Government-backed duty preference on electric vehicles over an ICE vehicles further strengthen the economics for operators and passengers transitioning from petrol-run three-wheelers.
For drivers and fleet operators, the shift translates into a concrete Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) advantage: lower running costs, reduced maintenance, and insulation from fuel price volatility. These make a meaningful difference for operators across the nation.
For Nepal’s drivers, this advantage is about more than economics. In a market where three-wheelers are the backbone of daily commerce and passenger movement, the vehicle shapes how drivers are seen by the customers they serve. Montra Electric’s Super Auto is built on the foundation that the respect does not come from how the driver performs. With its distinctive premium design, superior comfort, and class-leading performance, Super Auto is engineered to help drivers deliver a better experience on every trip; earn better each day; and build the kind of trust that keeps customers coming back. Because when performance leads, respect follows.
Nepal’s hilly terrain demand more from a vehicle, and Montra Electric’s Super Auto is built accordingly. Its 32% gradeability delivers strong performance on steep inclines, while the Hill-Hold Assist feature ensures safer, smoother starts on gradients.
Powered by a 9 kWh battery pack, paired with a PMSM motor, the Super Auto delivers class leading torque of 60 Nm. The vehicle offers an optimal driving range of 150 km on a single charge and a top speed of 55 kmph. Its 4.5-hour charging capability supports higher daily utilisation, while multiple drive modes enable adaptability across varying load and road conditions. The modes enable smoother power delivery, eliminating the jarring shifts typical of conventional gear-based vehicles.
For passengers and drivers alike, ergonomic dual-tone seating, effective windshield and roof design, and extra head and legroom make the Super Auto well-suited to longer routes and comfortable across variable weather conditions. Montra Electric has priced the Super Auto to suit its seamless transition from urban roads to the diverse terrains. The Super Auto will be available at NPR 8,64,900 in Nepal market.
Speaking at the unveil, Mr. Himanshu Golchha, Director, HIPCO Trading Pvt. Ltd. said, “Nepal’s roads are the backbone of country’s economic growth. For too long growth has come at the cost of our fuel bill. The arrival of Super Auto is a welcome step toward last-mile transport that does not depend on imported fuel and does not add to the pollution. As we continue to encourage electric mobility across the nation, partnerships like this one help our transport sector move in step with aspirations of Nepal’s people.”
Speaking on the announcement, Mr. Arun Murugappan, Chairman, Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility Pvt Ltd), said, “Montra Electric’s entry into Nepal with the Super Auto reflects the Group’s long-standing belief that engineering excellence must serve real, on-ground needs, whether it is a farmer, a fleet operator, or a nation’s own energy ambitions. Our range is built to serve every stretch of that journey, from first-mile to last-mile mobility. Nepal’s renewable energy strength and Montra Electric’s mobility innovation make this a natural, mutually reinforcing partnership, and one we see as a template for how Indian engineering can support sustainable growth across our neighbouring economies.”
Mr. Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director, Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility Pvt. Ltd.), said, “Our entry into Nepal is a defining chapter in Montra Electric’s journey as we transition from a leading player in India’s rapidly growing electric commercial vehicle sector to a global force in sustainable mobility. At the Murugappa Group, we have always prioritised engineering that solves real-world challenges; by leveraging Nepal’s surplus electricity to fuel our foray, we are demonstrating how Indian innovation can empower other economies to decouple their growth from global fuel volatility and embrace a cleaner, self-reliant future.”
Mr. Siddartha Jajodia, Director, HIPCO Trading Pvt. Ltd., said “The high-performance Super Auto passenger vehicle in Nepal marks the beginning of the company’s ambitious global roadmap by providing nationwide sales, service, spare parts, and customer support through its expanding dealer and service network across Nepal. The launch marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between Montra Electric and HIPCO Trading Pvt. Ltd., with plans to expand the product portfolio and strengthen Nepal’s electric mobility ecosystem.”
This strategic expansion project represents Montra Electric’s evolution from a domestic leader to a globally recognized EV player, bridging the gap between high-end engineering and the unique, rugged demands of global last-mile transport.
